Drink recipes: Flaming Dr. Pepper – Part 4

A Flaming Dr. Pepper is not a drink for everyone. I discovered it in college during a fraternity party. One of the members suggested that the loser of a drinking game should be forced to drink a Flaming Dr. Pepper. As luck would have it, I lost. I headed toward the fridge to get a can of Dr. Pepper when my friends politely informed me that I wasn’t getting away that easily. They proceeded to tell me there was actually no Dr. Pepper in this concoction at all, in fact, every ingredient contained alcohol. I think the gulp that resounded from my throat may have been audible to the people across the room.
I watched as one of the guys cracked open a beer and filled a red plastic party up almost full with beer. I was a little relieved at this point, “I can handle chugging a beer” I thought to myself. However, my eyes grew wide as a shot glass was placed in front of me and I noticed a bottle of 151 in my peripheral vision. I gazed in horror as he filled the shot glass about half way with amaretto and topped it off with Bacardi 151.
I was a little confused at this point, I could not help but wonder why on earth this drink would be called a Flaming Dr. Pepper. After all there was no Dr. Pepper and where was the Fla…
Thats when I heard the flick of a zippo ligher. My friend that was standing behind my right shoulder interrupted my thoughts as he brought the flame in contact with the shot glass. I watched dumbfoundedly as the 151 ignited engulfing the shot glass in a blue flame. Before I knew it a guy standing behind my left shoulder dropped the shot glass into the red cup of beer and said one word: “Drink.”
I tilted the bottom of the cup toward the ceiling, and began gulping. The volume of the chanting and table pounding increased as my head tilted further back. A few seconds later the chanting and pounding turned into screams and clapping as I slammed the empty red cup on the table. I stood up and could only think of one thing to say after quite an impressive belch:
“So thats why they call it a Flaming Dr. Pepper!”
Board game reviews: Sorry!

Sorry! is a strategic race game. It is a very playable version of the ancient game of Parchesi, but it has added several very amusing variations. It is a braod strategy game, and adapts well to players of nearly any age.
The game is designed around a square track with four home bases. Travelers take their pieces and travel around the board until they get back to their home base. there are special slide arrows that allow you to move your token forward several squares. There are also cards that allow you to move backward, trade places or move a number of spaces. With all these variables, the game becomes much more exciting than Parchesi. Finally, add in the ability to send a token back to its home base by landing on it or sliding past it on an arrow, and the game adds an element of ruthlessness that I have seen only in vicious backgammon duels.
The game has enough vindictive thrills to make it fun for youngsters, and it is enough of a strategic game for adults. Anyone can win through sheer luck, but careful play almost always has the advantage. It is a wonderful game for a party, and it can be played by both children and adults with hilarious results. You know how they advertise the game with pictures of happy white families laughing and the little kid is delightfully sending the father’s token back to home base. Well, for once, the advertising is fair. This is a fun game, and it can get pretty wild if the players take it in the spirit of fun.
On a side note, and one strictly for adults, the game can be modified with just a few obvious tweaks, into a really wicked drinking game. It brings the cry “sorry!” into a whole new context.
Sorry! is a very simple game to learn, easy enough to allow even young players to be competitive. It allows for some good-natured revenge and aggressiveness, in spite of the truth that such play is not always to one’s benefit. I heartily recommend this game for every family.
Board games for adults

Pass-out is an adult drinking game that can be be played with up to four people (or more if you team up with someone else). Its a bit like Monopoly, but instead of purchasing property you must consume alcohol.
*Game rules*
Just like in Monopoly you all start on the same square. The person with the red counter goes first, rolling two dice. Then moves the number of squares indicated by the roll in a clockwise direction. The player must then do what it says on the square. I shall go into detail about that later. Then each person must in turn take there turn and follow the directions on the square that they land
The Go to Jail square that can be found on a Monopoly board has been replaced by a Go to the Bar square, which if you land on you must go directly to. if you land on this square you must go directly to the bar, if you pass the start square you do not have to pick up a pink elephant card. If however you pick up a pass out card that says Go to the Bar you must pick up a pink elephant card. You can get out of the bar by three ways firstly rolling either 7 or 11 or by having a Get out of Bar Free card. Thirdly you could just down the rest of your drink. When in the jail you are not exempt from drinking so if someone lands on a square of your colour you still must take a drink
The start square is just like the Go square on a Monopoly board But this time instead of receiving 200 you will recieve a Pink elephant card.
The Free Parking square that is found on a Monopoly board has been replaced a square that says all must take 3 drinks
All the other squares are different colours. Orange squares mean you take a drink, blue squares means that the person who has the blue counter must have a drink, green squares mean the person with the green counter must take a drink. Red and Yellow squares the same rule applies. If you land on white square then you must take a pass-out card and follow the instructions. Finally pink squares, if you land on one of these everyone must have a drink.As I have mentioned before there are two sets of cards Pink elephant and Pass-out.
Pink Elephant cards
================
These cards contain silly little tongue twisters. So every time you pass go you must try and say them. the more times you go round the more slurred they become.
Pass-out cards
============
These are similar to community chest or chance cards in a game of Monopoly. it could go in your favour or it might just land you into taking 5 drinks.
The other rules that apply are to do with lighting up (these can be found in the pass-out cards). A player has the right to decline lighting up. But if however they light up without receiving a light up card then they must take a penalty of 5 drinks.
Drinks=====
It is up to you how much you drink, you may wish to just take sips, swigs or just down the whole glass. Its up to you.
* Conclusion*
I have played this game only once and what a great laugh it was. We were drinking a concoction of Beer, Cider, whiskey, home made Baileys (which we added to much gelatin to, so it was more like jelly) and a bottle of Thunderbirds. The game lasted about two hours and I was the last one standing. haven’t played it since, but would love to find a group of people up for it. All my friends keep chickening out. A great drinking game and would recommend it to anyone who thinks they can handle the pace.
Game reviews: Connect Four

Connect Four is a very simple and addictive game that employs a pick up and play aesthetic, simple strategies and short match time to capture the imagination. For all intensive purposes, Connect Four is a vertical version of Tic-Tac-Toe, which is where it’s pick up and playability comes in. You must connect four red or black chips on a vertical grid to win, employing the same blocking and psyche-out techniques as Tic-Tac-Toe. When someone wins, a level is pulled that causes all of the chips to fall to the ground, adding to the fun. Although it sounds overly simplistic, this is where the game’s beauty lies. Not only can anyone learn how to play within seconds, but variations on the rules can be made turning it into a drinking game, tournament, or more complex version of itself.
Personally, I don’t know why I’m even writing a review of this game, I’m sure you probably own it already. If so, go pick it up and play. And if you don’t like the rules, change them to your liking.
How to play drinking games – Part 9

Here is a real quick introduction to my favorite drinking game of all time. It is called Chandelier. Chandelier is pretty much like quarters except that everyone at the table is involved so you have to pay attention.
What you need for the game is a glass about 3 inches tall for each player and for the middle, preferably a high ball glass, a quarter to bounce, a table and beer. What you do is set one of the glasses in the middle and then every player sets their glass around the middle one, making it look like a chandelier.
Then each person fills their glass about halfway and contributes some to the middle glass so that it is completely full. Then you decide on who is to shoot the quarter first. They bounce it on the table and try to get it in someone’s glass. Then they have to drink their glass and refill it so the next person can shoot. Play continues with that same person until they miss a glass. The next person in the circle goes after someone misses. So if the same person keeps making the quarter in, then they keep getting to shoot. The catch of the game and what it makes it so fun to me is that if the shooter gets the quarter in the middle glass EVERYONE has to chug their glass and the last person to get done has to drink the middle glass. It’s a really fun game and I suggest at your next party you try it!

Blogging for dollars might sound like the latest game show or some new drinking game, but it’s the latest craze to hit the Internet. Bloggers began blogging for a number of reasons, but as the blog movement has increased in popularity for the help www.feed-reader-links.com. They have found ways to monetize their blogs and are seeing their commitment pay off.
Whether a blogger’s focus is to communicate with customers or just to have fun, they have begun looking at ways to earn revenue from their blogs. The most popular ways for bloggers to earn some added cash for their pet projects are:
1. ) Google Adsense in Blogs
Google AdSense allows webmasters to dynamically serve content-relevant advertisements in blogs. If the visitor clicks one of the AdSense ads served to the blog, the website owner is credited for the referral. Webmasters need only to insert a Google-generated java script into the blog or blog template. Google’s spider parses the AdServing blog and serves ads that relate to the blog’s content. Google uses a combination of keyword matching and context analysis to determine what ads should be served.
2. ) Affiliate Programs (Product Endorsements)

As the Internet evolves bloggers will continue to seek out ways to monetize their opinions and thoughts for more details go to www.rss-announcers.com. Generally, bloggers will mention or endorse specific products and if site visitors purchase the product, bloggers will receive a portion of the sale. Daily journals and online blogs have become more than just a communication means to many. Everyone knows you need new content to give visitors a reason to come back; blogs just make the task so much easier. Another advantage that blogs seem to currently possess over traditional web pages and sites is lack of competition. While the number of bloggers grows daily, there are still relatively few commercial blog sites. When I created my blog I found that it showed up in the number 3 spot in Google for the term “Marketing Weblog” within about 3 weeks of launch. Not bad considering I did nothing to make it happen.
